SCHOOL OUTING - THEATRE TRIP

Glass Primary School Parent Council have organised a trip for December 2019 to the pantomime at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness. The whole school will make the journey and the grant will pay for a proportion of the costs towards the tickets, bus hire and snacks.

BRING BACK THE CAIRNIE SWIFTS

Huntly Swift Group are a constituted group of local volunteers with a keen interest in protecting the now endangered Common Swift, a summer visitor to Scotland. The project involved installing nest boxes in and around the village of Cairnie, and raising awareness in the village of the presence of swifts through leaflets, events and school materials.

GLASS HALL POOL TABLE

Glass Community Association successfully applied for a pool table for Glass Hall. The pool table will be used at social evenings, badminton club, youth events etc.

KITCHEN EQUIPMENT

Glass Community Association purchased some new soups bowls and spoons for Glass Hall with this small grant. They will be used at the popular 'soup and sweet' events held at the hall.

GORDON SCHOOLS DOPPER PROJECT

As part of an 'Erasmus Programme' project, Sixth Year pupils at The Gordon Schools created a social enterprise which sold TGS-branded, environmentally-friendly water bottles ('Doppers') to pupils. The aim of the project was both to discourage single-use plastic and to instigate entrepreneurial spirit in the Sixth Years. Free bottles were distributed to Cairnie and Glass pupils.

KEEP FIT IT EQUIPMENT
Applicant: Glass Badminton Club

Glass Badminton Club successfully applied for a laptop, projector and associated equipment. The IT equipment will be used for holding weekly 'keep fit' sessions in Glass Hall.

CAIRNIE HALL TABLES
Applicant: Cairnie Memorial Hall Committee
CGCT Grant: £4,600.00

Cairnie Hall Memorial Hall Committee had identified the need to replace the ageing set of wooden tables and chairs. They were uncomfortable, deteriorating, difficult to store and were beginning to pose and health and safety risk.   A full new set of modern tables and chairs was purchased, making the hall more attractive for both community events and private functions. The new furniture has been warmly welcomed by all users of the hall!
